Date(s) - 08/25/2019
11:30 am - 4:00 pm
Pre-meeting: Open turning on the Comet lathes. Pen kits and blanks will be available if you would like to turn a pen for the troops. No charge for the blanks if the finished pen is donated to the program. Or bring in your project, tools, and safety gear for some open lathe time and mentoring.
Meeting: Bob Goulding will be hosting a demonstration on holding techniques for your project on the lathe. This will be an informative presentation for both new and experienced turners. If you have any unusual techniques you have developed, please share those with Bob for the presentation. If you have special jigs, bring those for Show and Tell.
The President has a couple of challenges for August – (1) turn a Roman canteen or other drinking vessel and (2) create a “creature” from your shop scraps to get us trained for the September picnic challenge. See past September newsletters for ideas. Who knows – some may even want to create a turned canteen/drinking vessel from their scraps!
Hope to see you at the August 25, 2019 meeting.
