Pre-meeting at 1130am – Al will be giving an introduction to segmented turning. He will be demonstrating jigs that are used to cut segments and form the complex designs done with segmenting.
During the break between the premeeting and the main meeting, our VP Eric Oman will be grilling hot dogs and burgers in the parking lot. We’ll also have chips and water. Members are encouraged to bring a snack / finger food to share during the lunch break.
Meeting at 1pm – Al will be showing how to turn a bowl from a board – yes starting with flat stock. Turning a large bowl on a lathe tends to waste a lot of wood; Al will show a simple way to use exotic woods and techniques to enhance the project and yield a striking and impressive bowl with minimal materials cost.
President’s Challenge for April is to turn an egg or several eggs.
